Quote of The Week, MacLeod - 1/18/09

Being good at anything is like figure skating—the definition of being good at it is being able to make it look easy. But it is never easy. Ever. That’s what the stupidly wrong people conveniently forget.

-Hugh MacLeod

I used to be one of these stupidly wrong people, always thinking there were those out there who were just naturally gifted and their wonderful talents just came to them in waves whenever they felt the urge to pull them out of the air. I've since realized it's the exact opposite.

The people who have a difficult time with things are the ones who end up doing the best work. For a week or two when they're working on an assignment you don't hear a peep from them, and then they'll come in and present something that is just rocking. In class, they make it look easy. But behind closed doors, those 2 weeks before are a trainwreck of self-doubt, blows to confidence and ability, filled with the difficult task of thinking of ways to do the new.

dubs. out.
